Add parental controls
Parents can use the Parental Controls application to prevent children from accessing harmful content.
An administrator can use this application to:
Restrict a user's access to web browsers and applications.
Prevent a user from installing applications.
Allow a user to only access age-appropriate applications.
Parental Controls requires applications to be installed via Flatpak or Flathub.
Restrict web browsers
Parental Controls allows an administrator to disable browser access for a user.
Open the Activities overview and start typing System.
Select Settings ▸ System from the results. This will open the System panel.
Select Users to open the panel.
Under Other Users, select the user to whom you wish to apply the controls.

Select Parental Controls.
The option only appears if Parental Controls is installed and enabled.
Press the Unlock button.
Enter your password and authenticate to unlock the Parental Controls dialog.
Toggle the Restrict Web Browsers switch to turn it on.
Restrict applications
Parental Controls provides a list of applications that an administrator can disable.
Existing applications (which are not installed via Flatpak) will not appear in this list.
Open the Activities overview and start typing System.
Select Settings ▸ System from the results. This will open the System panel.
Select Users to open the panel.
Under Other Users, select the user to whom you wish to apply the controls.

Select Parental Controls.
The tab only appears if Parental Controls is installed and enabled.
Press the Unlock button.
Enter your password and authenticate to unlock the Parental Controls dialog.
Click on Restrict Applications.
Toggle the switch next to the application(s) you wish to restrict.
Restrict application installation
Parental Controls allows an administrator to deny installation privileges to a user.
Open the Activities overview and start typing System.
Select Settings ▸ System from the results. This will open the System panel.
Select Users to open the panel.
Under Other Users, select the user to whom you wish to apply the controls.

Select Parental Controls.

Toggle the Restrict Application Installation switch to turn it on.
Restrict applications by age group
Restrict what applications are visible based on their suitability for a given age group.
Open the Activities overview and start typing System.
Select Settings ▸ System from the results. This will open the System panel.
Select Users to open the panel.
Under Other Users, select the user to whom you wish to apply the controls.

Select Parental Controls.
The tab only appears if Parental Controls is installed and enabled.
Press the Unlock button.
Enter your password and authenticate to unlock the Parental Controls dialog.
Select the age group from the dropdown in Application Suitability.
